Leading in Heat Transfer Technology.
The Omega pillow plate exists out of two steel plates which are placed on each other and connected by laser welding. After the plates have been welded together, the plates are inflated using pressure by water or nitrogen. The inflation process changes the welded plate from a flat surface into curved shaped hollow openings which can be used to conduct various heat transfer media. The pillow plate system is an innovative design, which offers an economical alternative to conventional heat exchanger systems such as the half-tube coil and double-jacket.
Compared to these two designs, the pillow plate system offers huge advantages:
- Lower operational costs
- Better heat transfer
- Better control characteristics
- More efficient utilization of the heat transfer medium
- The performance of existing installations can be raised without the need for additional space
- Less weight
- The inside of a vessel maintains the initial 100% surface quality after laser welding
The low system volume makes it possible to achieve turbulent flows already at low volumetric flow rates of the heat transfer medium, thus resulting in outstanding heat transfer characteristics.
Our pillow plates are made of mostly all stainless steels, nickel alloys and duplex materials.
